Read what some of the leading reviewers said about some of David’s designs!

the amount of low bass energy this speaker can produce is astounding..

is up there with the established big boys, ATC, Genelec, PMC and the rest..

..an optional, I would suggest imperative extra is on site analysis and alignment of the system..

the results were most impressive, exhibiting delicacy and presence conveying the subtle detail..that few boxed loudspeakers can equal

Ivor Humphreys

"there was absolutely no hint of either compression or distortion, just limitless power coupled with lightning speed"

Distributed Mode Loudspeakers

These loudspeakers work like no other traditional transducer. Please read Peter Mapp article edited reprint for more detailed information.

What we do know about them is that they have the performance benefit of constant directivity with a –6db dispersion 100 x 110 degrees from 100Hz to 10Khz. Their response extends to 21Khz.

This lack of beaming results in a loudspeaker that is less prone to exciting destructive room effects resulting in a smoother response throughout the listening environment.

Their weight, portability and performance ensure that they are compatible with a wide range of applications which include conference, churches, schools, theatres, retail spaces, restaurants, bars and small portable PA.

For high end Hi Fi and studio applications a more restricted bandwidth is recommended with the panels covering from 450Hz upwards. Coupling to the Twins at this crossover produces all the benefits of flat response, increased power handling and the ability to configure the Twins as dipole, bipole, gradient or cardioids ensures the whole system may be optimised and matched to the room for an enhanced listening experience and no requirement for a “hot seat"!

For those that wish to extend the response further, a high end option would be to crossover to a ribbon or planar tweeter at around 8Khz which may also bring improvements in polar response at these high frequencies.

Sound Right systems are modular and scalable to enable the client to match their system to the required task.

It may be the business user who needs a very light transportable system for conference and meetings. A single or pair of DML panels and a simple mixer and microphone may be sufficient.

Or it may be the studio user that needs a system to produce full range accurate sound, combining the whole product range of Wide Boys, Twins and DML panels complete with all the system processing and amplification.

Specifications

Single flat panel DML Loudspeaker
540mm(H) x 660mm(W) x 70mm (D)
Weight: 3.6Kg
Power Handling: 80watts (AES)
Efficiency: 89dB/watt/8 ohms
Impedance: 8 ohms
Response : 80Hz* - 21Khz

(* Power handling will be dependent on programme material. The maximum power rating is advisory! Critical applications and high power full range music applications will benefit from a more restricted bandwidth, say 450Hz—21Khz. The panels are scalable, a stacked pair providing an equivalent of 95dB/watt, a doubling in power handling and twice the radiating area for enhanced bass performance)
